1950's Record Oddities
Part Two of new 50's Trivia is ready to go. All of these questions deal with music in the 50's. Let's do it!........

1. Roddy Jackson recorded a song in the late 50's on the Specialty label, 'I've Got My Sights Set On You'. He later went on to become very famous in recording and on TV in the 60's and 70's, under a different name. His real name. Who is he?

2. OK, this one is for you folks familiar with New York radio. Name 3 stations in that market who played rock n' roll music in the 50's. Name the station's call letters at the time AND their frequencies on the dial. Hint: All 3 were AM stations.

3. Name the future Country Music great whose first hit of any kind went to number one on the pop charts in 1957. Extra credit for his nickname.

4. The Shirelles released a single in the summer of 1959 that was a total flop. The song was re-released in 1961 and became one of their all-time best. Name the song.

5. What number one tune was withheld from radio airplay for several days in New York in the late 50's, due to a rash of knifings in that town?

6. In the spring of '59, newspapers across the world screamed the headline, 'Booze, Broads, and Bribes!' What incident involving the music business did this story refer to?

7. Name in no particular order, the most popular male artist, the most popular female singer, and the best-selling singing group of the 1950's.

8. Before he launched his phenomenally successful singing career with 'Reet Petite' in 1957, Jackie Wilson sang lead for a time with what mid-50's group. Hint: Their name reminds one of a certain board game.

9. Berry Gordy founded Motown Records in 1959. What was the first hit that Berry released that year in Detroit on the Tamla label. Hint: The initials of the singer are M.J.

10. What was the first single in the Rock N' Roll era to spend 10 weeks at #1? Hint: It was in 1955, and it wasn't by Elvis.
