Some of the greatest radio in the mid 70's came out of Connecticut. 'The Rabbett' personified mid-70's Rock and Roll! Robert 'Rabbett' Abbett made his debut at WHCN in Hartford, Connecticut in 1976. What was to follow was a rather unique 'switchback' trail between the East Coast and the Hawaiian Islands for the next dozen years. Abbett rocked Hartford at WHCN for 2 years before moving to crosstown WDRC in 1978. There, both the Bee Gees and the Rabbett skied forward with top ratings, shuck and jive, and entertainment in the Nutmeg State. But by 1979, the Rabbett heard a siren calling 'aloha'. In 1979, Rabbett took his winning sound to KPIG and KIKI in Honolulu. A year later, he moved to KDEO. Sometimes in this crazy business, radio beckons you back home. Thus. Abbett packed up late in 1980 and flew back to New Haven, Connecticut for a stint at WOMN. Ok, you say...has the boy settled down yet? Well, not exactly. Robert 'Rabbett' Abbett discovered he missed the islands and trucked back to Honolulu the following year at KQMQ. That's where he remains today. After 'QMQ, Abbett spent time for the next decade at KGU, KPOI-FM, and KCCN-FM. Today, the 'Rabbett' keeps busy running Internet Radio Hawai'i (Real Audio Hawaiian music program with local news, calendar events, and gags) from Honolulu, Hawaii.
