Born in the Carolinas, Jefferson Stone grew up listening to Jack Gale, Long John and others on Charlotte's 61 'Big WAYS' radio. This experience inspired him to 'get into the business'.
In 1972, Stone landed a nighttime slot at WTOB in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. When the mid-70's rolled around, Jeff moved to the Miami area. His stints there included 98 Gold (where he fell in love with oldies) and when the disco craze hit, at 96X in Miami. Then, as Stone puts it, he 'found love on the radio'. It was during his days at Miami's Love 94 where he met and married his long time wife. Shortly thereafter, Jefferson Stone landed in his words, 'A dream job'. He became the night jock at Miami-Fort Lauderdale's legendary oldies station, WAXY 106. In addition to crediting Jack Gale with influencing him to get into radio, Jeff recalls fondly his opportunity while at WAXY to work with another great, legendary air personality Rick Shaw.
Stone later launched a successful Party DJ business with clients throughout the US. Today, he and his wife have purchased a 26 foot RV. Their plans include broadcasting from all over the country, which is the basis for Stone's new program, 'Cruisin' To the Oldies' on Ultimate Oldies Radio.
